RIYADH: A series of events for university students were announced yesterday at a press conference held to mark the launch of the Kingdom’s National Entrepreneurship Week to coincide with the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The events are being organized by the National Entrepreneurship Center, an initiative of The Centennial Fund to assist the young entrepreneurs to find lucrative vocations on completion of their higher education.
“For one week, millions of young people around the world will join a growing movement of entrepreneurial people to generate new ideas and to seek better ways of doing things. It is an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. To think big. To turn their ideas into reality. To make their mark,” Hesham Tashkandi, general manager of The Centennial Fund, told newsmen here yesterday.
The National Entrepreneurship Center is the latest initiative of The Centennial Fund, a Saudi Arabian charity established in July 2004 with a royal charter to help young Saudi men and women achieve financial independence, through helping them start their own commercially successful business.
Saudi Arabia was the first Arab country to be accredited by the Youth business International (YBI) chaired by Prince Charles of Britain. “Today, entrepreneurial individuals appear from all walks of life to exploit business opportunities for both economic and social gains, Tashkandi said, pointing out that the week will connect young people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.
