JEDDAH: The mother of a 25-year-old Saudi woman who said she was ready to sell one of her kidneys to help her mother pay back debts told Arab News yesterday that she can now rest in peace after receiving SR300,000 from Prince Turki bin Abdul Aziz.

The family received the check in Jeddah on Wednesday and went back to Tabuk to repay their loans.

“I am tongue tied, no words can express my feelings,” she said. “I can’t believe that I will be able to pay back my loans, may Allah reward the prince.”

The woman, who approached Arab News in early August to highlight her family’s plight, said she had announced her willingness to sell one of her kidneys to help pay off the debt in Internet discussion boards.

Many local newspapers along with some local television networks had followed up the Arab News report.
