MANAMA: Bahraini authorities are coming down heavily on pilgrims who do not possess the mandatory Haj license issued by Saudi authorities.
In the latest case, four Bahrainis were denied the right to perform Haj as their passports were not stamped by the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs. This year Bahraini pilgrims are required to carry special Haj stamps on their passports. Bahraini citizens, like the citizens of other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, do not need a visa to enter Saudi Arabia. However, they are not permitted to perform Haj without proper Haj permits.
Amal Thawadi, who will be going next month to Makkah with her brother, told Arab News, “We got all our necessary documents stamped by the authorities. Our Haj contractor is carrying out all the documentation process,” she said.
