ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former President Pervez Musharraf and his wife left the country yesterday for a weeklong trip to Britain — his first visit abroad since he resigned in August.
Amidst tight security, the former military ruler drove to the Islamabad airport and took a flight to Britain. Musharraf will travel to London and Cambridge, TV channels reported.
In London, he will stay with his friend Brig. (retd.) Niyaz Ahmed. He will also spend time with family friends in Cambridge.
One of his former close associate said the former president, during his tour, would address the Cambridge University Students Union besides he would also be holding meetings with the members of different think tanks. Pakistan High Commission will provide full official protocol on his arrival at London.
