JEDDAH: Police have launched an investigation after the body of a 51-year-old Saudi man was found in a narrow alley in the Baghdadiyah district of Jeddah on Sunday.
Local residents found the man’s body in a pool of blood and informed the police. It is thought that the man died from blows to the back of his head.
Officers sealed the area while homicide police and forensic experts examined the crime scene looking for clues. Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police, said investigations are still in the early stages and that police are trying to identify the victim.
The Jeddah area saw five murders last month in which all the victims and their attackers were of Asian nationalities.
