AL-JOUF: The King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue (KACND) will soon embark on a nationwide program to promote dialogue among family members.
“Family dialogue is aimed at further consolidating the values of communication among members of the family,” said Fahd Al-Sultan, adviser at the center and general supervisor of the program.
He added that KACND has completed all arrangements for the program and has commissioned instructors to promote culture of dialogue among the various sections of Saudi society.
“Family dialogue represents a new qualitative step for KACND, which has successful past experience in spreading culture of dialogue among various government and private sectors.
This program is being held to emphasize the importance of communication among family members and the preservation of family bonds,” he said.
“Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has directed family dialogue be made a basic pillar of the Kingdom’s national dialogue with a view to preserving family values and preventing domestic violence.
“Development starts from the family. Continuous dialogue among members of the family will inculcate their values in coming generations and spread the culture of tolerance,” he added.
Al-Sultan noted that the scope for families getting together is narrowing due to different types of media, the new tendency of both parents working, and the prevalence of satellite television channels and mobile phones. “The program will seek solutions and ideas that will bring families to their old vitality. This is especially important in our Islamic society which stresses the importance of unity among families,” he said.
