MINA: A total of one hundred and twenty-one cases of food poisoning was reported yesterday in a Haj camp.
The pilgrims were affected after they ate spoiled food. Ninety-five of them were treated and released while the rest stayed for additional treatment and monitoring. None of the cases are severe. Health officials did not mention the name of the camp.
Meanwhile, a small fire erupted in Mina inside square 56/1 that belongs to a local Haj establishment.
Official spokesman for the Makkah fire department, Maj. Abdullah Al-Harthi, said the fire did not cause any deaths, injuries or damage to the camp.
He said that three teams from the fire department immediately went to the location after receiving the news at around 4:00 p.m. All pilgrims surrounding the small camp were evacuated from the scene.
The spokesman said that the fire only damaged the blankets inside the camp and investigation was under way to determine the cause of the fire.
