ABHA: A 30-year-old Saudi man was gunned down yesterday allegedly by a gang of African overstayers in a remote farm in the southern Asir province.
“The man died of machinegun fire. Several bullets were found in his body. Investigations are under way to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” said Col. Abdullah Al-Qarni, spokesman for Asir police.
Al-Qarni said a number of people were being questioned. The dead man’s body is presently at Ohad Rafida Hospital. The police spokesman accused some citizens in rural areas of employing overstayers as farm hands and shepherds.
He added that many overstayers had been arrested and deported from the region lately.
