DUBAI: Dubai police arrested members of a Bangladeshi gang on charges of human trafficking after they allegedly tried to sell a young woman to an undercover agent for 4,000 dirhams.

The gang used to traffic women into prostitution in the souq in Deira Dubai. The area is famous for its cheap merchandise and is visited by businessmen from all over the world.

According to Col. Khalil Al-Mansoori, director of the Criminal Investigation Department, the police set up a sting operation after receiving a tip-off that the gang was trying to sell a girl.

The woman, who was only identified as Bangladeshi, reportedly told police she had been forced to work as a prostitute before being offered for sale.
