LONDON: The fourth concert of the Al Farabi Concerto series was held recently. The event was a combined effort between BMG Foundation and Musicstage. The London Sinfonietta - with conductor Diego Masson, Simon Haram on saxophone, soprano Patricia Rozario and reciter Nadim Sawalha - performed at the historic Queen Elizabeth Hall, in celebration of artistic language, of culture, and of East meeting West.
The program featured a melange of changed performances, with compositions from Samir Odeh-Tamimi (Palestine), Ahmed Essayed (Morocco) and Amr Okba (Algeria-Egypt) taking stage. Basil Al-Ghalayini, CEO of BMG Financial Group and chairman of BMG Foundation, said: "Al Farabi Concerto series enrich the global village, and inspire cultural, artistic and business interactions, through which sustainable networks may be built. BMG Foundation's pioneering initiatives this past year, including the 12th GCC Polo Cup, having taken place this past summer in London, at Windsor Castle, as well as the Art Alive "Bridges" competitions, held in Saudi Arabia - which strive to enhance the Saudi modern artist - have played an integral role in enhancing communities, and assisting the needy worldwide." As part of the foundation's corporate cultural responsibility, net proceeds from such events go to support micro-finance, cultural and educational enhancement programs.
