JEDDAH: Police have arrested a 17-year-old Egyptian who stabbed two Saudi youths, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police, said, “An eyewitness informed us about a fight in which the Egyptian youth took out a knife and stabbed two Saudis. ... The dead Saudi was 20 and the injured 21.”

Al-Juaid did not specify where the fight took place but said the Egyptian was being interrogated at a police station in Al-Samir district. “The three were in a vacant area hanging around when the Egyptian teenager suspected the two Saudis were intending something bad. He tried to convince them to leave him alone. However, the two Saudis refused and a fight ensued,” he said.

The youth then drove one of the Saudis’ cars to a relative’s home where he tried to hide, but was caught a few hours later. The injured Saudi is in critical state.
