RIYADH: A policeman was shot and killed and another critically wounded by a suspected fugitive in a desert area in Madinah yesterday evening, an Interior Ministry statment said yesterday.
"The shooting incident occurred when the patrol car chased a car into a desert area off the Madinah - Tabuk highway in the Al-Jahrah administrative division. When the patrol car finally made the suspicious car stop, a man got out of the car and started shooting at the policemen. The man was killed when the police returned the fire, the statement said.
Police are investigating.
