RIYADH: Pre-engineered bathrooms created at an Al-Rajhi factory are becoming the latest craze in bathroom design. This innovative concept, which has been used in Europe for over 40 years has now made its way into the Middle East hospitality market with the Kingdom’s Al-Rajhi Investment Group establishing a production facility in the United Arab Emirates to produce such pre-engineered bathrooms.
The company, whose products are nicknamed Unipods, has entered the market with the intension of supplying pre-fabricated bathroom units for both commercial and residential buildings throughout the region, said Henrik Christiansen, CEO of UNIPODS, here yesterday. Christiansen said, “The company ‘Unipods LLC’ offers highly versatile solutions for the construction industry at this time of economic recession”.
He pointed out that the bathroom pods actually are prefabricated utilizing innovative, sustainable construction techniques, built at the Unipods factory. They are delivered as completed units with showers, sinks, toilets and even mirrors in place to the construction site, and simply installed as the building is erected, Christiansen explained. “The pods are built to developer’s specs at Unipods’ factory and then delivered complete to the project site,” he added. Referring to the benefits of such bathrooms, he said that the off-site construction reduces time, site traffic and environmental impact on the project site. It also eliminates construction waste, which is produced by site contractors using traditional techniques, giving a saving of up to 20 percent. The pods are available for both new build and renovation projects and can be installed by either the developer’s contractor or Unipods contractors.
