MADINAH: The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice caught a young Saudi who was allegedly blackmailing a high school girl to go out with him after showing her photograph on his mobile phone.
Refusing to succumb to his threats, the girl took the case to the religious police who dispatched a patrol to the secondary school where the young man was caught waiting for his prey.
The young man, who was not identified, admitted his crime and said he obtained the girl’s photograph and her mobile phone number from his sister who was her schoolmate.
According to the commission, the culprit was carrying three mobile phones and a number of memory cards having pornographic content and pictures of a group of girls at a rest house and a photo of a girl with a young man in a room.
Yassir Al-Matrafi, spokesman for the Presidency of Girls’ Education, warned schoolgirls against being lenient in allowing to be photographed by mobile phones because their pictures may be misused for immoral purposes.
He also asked them not to be tricked by the nice talk and soft speaking of some young boys who might have bad intentions.
Al-Matrafi said the offices and centers of the commission are always open to people who want to make complaints about blackmailing.
