JEDDAH: The case of the two young brothers who lost their lives after falling into an artesian well in Madinah has been delayed again yesterday, according to the boys’ father, Faiz Al-Mutairi.

Saud Al-Hujaili, the head of a three-member team of lawyers representing the father, said the case has been delayed as the Civil Defense wanted to prepare a response. The next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10 when a verdict is likely to be announced.

Al-Hujaili said that the defense did not present any further arguments and that he would appeal the verdict if the judges fail to rule in the favor of his client.

The accident occurred in 2007. Mushari, 12, and Fahd, 6, were playing in their neighborhood when the younger boy fell into a well that was 12 meters deep and 15 inches wide. Attempting to rescue his brother, Mushari also fell in. The boys were found dead after a seven-hour rescue operation.

Al-Mutairi is accusing both the municipality and Civil Defense for the negligent death of his boys and is demanding SR10 million in compensation.
