JEDDAH: More than 500 children from different schools attended a variety of cultural contests organized by Malarvadi Balasangam at Maqased, Dauhat Al-Uloom and Buds & Blossom schools recently. “The event was a big success in terms of participation and organization,” said Abdul Shukoor Ali, North Zone coordinator of Malarvadi Kalotsavam.

There were separate contests for kiddies, sub-juniors and juniors in song, cartoon, mono act, crayon, action song, pencil drawing, memory test, poem recitation and completing, water coloring and story writing.

“The competitions gave a festive look and the children enjoyed the evening displaying their wonderful skills,” Ali told Arab News.

“We’ll hold a zonal level contest for the winners of these competitions. We’ll inform the winners through the media the date and venue of the mega contest to select the finalists,” Ali said, adding that the winners of zonal level contests would be given attractive prizes during a ceremony to be held next month.

“The competitions proved that our children have marvelous capabilities. If we provide them proper guidance and encouragement they can make wonders,” said Nissar K.K, one of the organizers. Fasal Kochi, another organizer, was equally impressed by the children’s performance.

Nissar Iritti, assistant coordinator, was happy over the successful conclusion of the contests. He thanked the contestants, their parents, Malarvadi resource persons, judges and volunteers for making it a memorable event.
