RIYADH: The Delhi Public School, Riyadh, (DPS-Riyadh) is one of the best-equipped schools in the Middle East with world-class facilities that seek to achieve excellence in academics and in co-curricular activities.

Tarin also congratulated students, teachers and parents, who have contributed to make this school an ideal institution. He said that the school has been upgraded to 10+2 level by the Central Board of Secondary Examination, Ministry of Education, India.
“We have already enrolled students on the secondary level in science stream this year,” said Tarin adding that the school will start commerce stream from the coming academic session. He expressed his admiration for teachers and students, while congratulating the parents for 100 percent result given by the school in secondary school examination. It was only a few months back that the results were announced, and the entire batch of students has passed with first division, with the school topper securing 89 percent marks in All India Secondary School Examination conducted by CBSE, said Mairaj Mohammed Khan, DPS principal in an interview with Arab News here yesterday.
He said that the DPS will hold its annual level towards the end of next month, when colorful program including an opera will be staged in the school. Referring to the future plans of the DPS management, which always strives to provide better education, Principal Khan said: "The school seeks to provide the best education and raise student's awareness of national and international affairs.
On all fronts, he said, the DPS Riyadh, which started its modest operation in April 2004 under a franchise agreement with the Delhi Public School Society, has made its name.
In order to provide better education to Indian and foreign students in Saudi Arabia, the DPS has announced an ambitious plan to build its own school building with world-class facilities. To this end, Khan noted the visit of Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who visited Riyadh and laid the foundation of DPS school building.
He said that the school also received Salman Khurseed, who has been associated with the school chain for the last several years. The DPS students, he said, successfully staged Salman's play "The Sons of Babur" at Indian Embassy auditorium, which won then accolades from one and all. He said that the school had been regularly hiring trained teachers from India as the school expands in terms of enrolment. He said that nearly 50 percent out of about 120 teachers of the school are residential teachers, which is a unique feature of this institution.
He lauded the efforts of Darrusalam International School Chairman Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qauid for bringing one of the best academic institution of India to the Saudi soil. He said that the school cumulative enrolment had gone up from a few students in 2005 to more than 1,600 students now. Khan, who has 20 years of experience as principal of Indian boarding schools, said, “The traditional pursuit of excellence in the field of education by the Delhi Public School Society of Delhi was ingrained with the Darussalam International School to germinate an institution that provides the best of Indian education in Saudi Arabia.”
Referring to the growth of the school, Principal Khan said that the new sprawling campus for DPS will have a separate section for IGCSE with high-tech classrooms, laboratories and activity rooms besides an auditorium and an administrative block. The DPS Society has more than 140 schools in India and about 20 schools overseas to address the needs of the expatriate Indian population.
