RIYADH: The Saudi Charitable Society for the Welfare of Saudi Families Abroad (Awasser) has forged alliances with a leading hospital in Cairo to provide health care to Saudi families in Egypt.
Abdullah Al-Hamoud, chairman of Awasser, said a large number of people, especially those who suffer from chronic diseases and victims of accidents, would benefit from the agreement. He added that Awasser was also in the process of finalizing agreements with hospitals in other countries where Saudi families reside.
“It should be noted that the charity aims to provide assistance to Saudi citizens abroad who are cut off,” said Al-Hamoud. “Awasser aims to secure housing for them, pay for their children’s education until university, ensure they receive health care and give them monthly or bimonthly stipends to meet daily needs,” he added.
The charity also seeks to provide them with moral support, facilitate issuance of Saudi nationality certificates for their children, secure their return to the Kingdom and ensure they get jobs.
Awasser has helped reunite many Saudi families, functioning as a link between families in Saudi Arabia.
The organization has held campaigns and symposiums discussing the growing phenomenon of marriages with foreigners, and social and economic problems faced by Saudi families. It has also supported local social institutions play a part in dealing with these problems.
