TAIF: A private hospital in Taif has been fined SR100,000 for refusing to treat an emergency patient, said Saeed Al-Zahrani, spokesman for the Health Department in Taif.
Health authorities took action against the hospital after receiving a complaint from the Red Crescent that the hospital refused to accept an emergency case, said Al-Zahrani.
According to Saudi law, private and public hospitals are required to accept emergency patients.
The health authorities also penalized two pharmacies for supplying antibiotics and medicines that normally require a doctor’s prescription. Inspectors discovered that the two pharmacies were staffed by unqualified expatriate laborers.
Inspectors also closed a clinic that was run by unqualified staff, said Al-Zahrani, adding that the clinic was primarily concerned with carrying out medical checkups on workers.
He also said unlicensed aphrodisiacs were seized from a number of other medical shops.
