RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah will attend a forum entitled “Social Responsibility and the Participation of Public and Private Sectors” that will be organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs at Prince Sultan Hall in the Riyadh’s Al- Faisaliah Hotel tomorrow.
“The forum reflects the ministry’s desire to establish a strong framework for increased cooperation between the public and private sectors,” Minister of Social Affairs Yusuf Al-Othaimin said yesterday, according to the Saudi Press Agency. “Private companies should express their good intention in words and deeds by executing useful projects and initiatives that can bring about changes in the society. This is what the forum will discuss.”
The forum will seek to increase awareness about social responsibility with the partnership between public and private sectors, in addition to identifying and evaluating the priorities of the society’s needs. The forum also aims to serve as a base for founding a new partnership between the two, Al-Othaimin added.
“The forum, to be participated in by more than 400 global and local personalities and experts, is the first to be organized in the country. The participants will include Chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saleh Al-Turki; Economic Adviser at the Saudi Embassy in Belgium Fahd Al-Eitani; Director of Social Responsibility at Dallah Al-Baraka Nadia Baashan; Secretary-General of the Saudi and Arab Federations of Table Tennis Muhammad Al-Ruwaishid; Vice Chairman of the Shoura Council Bandar Hajjar and Secretary-General of the National Strategy for Poverty Eradication Abdullah Muayqel,” the minister said.
“The participants of the forum look forward to the contribution of the companies to develop strategies and initiatives for the benefit of the local communities, and benefit from the international and regional expertise in social responsibility activities, building of dialogues between the public and private sectors and encouragement of media to support social responsibility programs,” the minister said in his statement.
The minister added that the interest of the king in the forum is a clear indication of the significance of the event.
The forum will also have a pictorial display entitled “Social Responsibility ... A National Strategy” and a workshop that would explore the extent of the commitment of the workers in the two sectors toward the social responsibility.
A major sponsor of the event is the Saudi Research and Marketing Group.
