JEDDAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has allocated more than SR1 billion to carry out a number of expansion projects at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSHRC) in Jeddah, according to Qasim Al-Qasabi, the CEO of KFSHRC in Riyadh.
He said the new projects, which are to meet the hospital’s requirements in the coming 20 years, would include an advanced tumor treatment center, a neurology center and new facilities to provide specialist medical services to children.
Al-Qasabi said the Jeddah hospital has been merged with KFSHRC in Riyadh to become its branch, on the king’s directives. The new expansion projects would also cover the Jeddah hospital’s cardiology and X-ray departments as well as its laboratory and outpatient clinics.
“King Abdullah has granted a piece of land with an area of 33,000 square meters, south of KFSHRC Jeddah to implement expansion projects,” the CEO said.
Dr. Tarek Linjawi, executive director of the Jeddah hospital, thanked King Abdullah for his generous gesture and said the new projects would help provide specialist health services to patients.
He said national and international companies have been invited to present their offers and documents to carry out the projects. The new facilities, providing 750 additional beds, would reduce pressure on the hospital, he added.
