RIYADH: A 20-member Taiwanese trade delegation to be headed by former Minister of Economic Affairs Steve Chen will be visiting Saudi Arabia on Feb. 13 and Qatar on Feb. 16.
“With the visit, we hope not only to further strengthen existing excellent bilateral ties but also to boost trade between Saudi Arabia and Taiwan,” said, Fareed Hwang, press counselor of the Taiwanese Representative Office here.
Saudi Arabia is the second top importer of Taiwanese products, which touched $530 million in 2006. Saudi exports to Taiwan, on the other hand, crossed $9.8 billion in the same year.
On Feb. 14, the delegation will hold talks with officials from the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry to be followed by a seminar on business opportunities in Taiwan and a demonstration of Taiwanese products. The following day, an “e-Health Workshop” and “e-Government Workshop” will be held in two different locations which will be announced later.
On Feb.16, the delegation will visit the AEC and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). Later, the delegation will proceed to Qatar for a two-day visit.
