JEDDAH: A group of school students in Khurma town near Taif beat their teacher so badly that he had to be sent to King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital in Taif for treatment of head injuries yesterday. The man is reportedly in stable condition.

Maj. Turki Al-Shahri, spokesman for Taif police, said his office received a report from Gharief police station about the incident. “Efforts are under way to arrest those students involved in the incident and conduct an investigation,” he said.

Mohammed Abu Ras, director of education, ordered a special panel in Khurma to investigate the incident and to identify the culprits’ motives for the attack.

Car thefts

Security authorities have found two cars stolen from Afif area in Riyadh and Qassim. Afif police had issued alerts about the two missing vehicles.

Col. Ibrahim Al-Shayeki, director of Afif police, has set up a committee to address the growing problem of car thefts in the area.
