JEDDAH: The Jeddah Chapter of Muslim Service Society (MSS) will hold a Quiz contest at Indian Consulate premises today to mark its 11th anniversary. C.P. Kunhi Mohamed, president of MSS in Kerala, and other dignitaries will attend the function that begins at 5 pm. Winners will be announced on the same day.
"MSS is a non-profit service-oriented organization that functions in a systematic manner," said its president PM Amir Ali. "It offers a common platform for all service-minded social workers to make use of their talent and energy for the betterment of the less privileged people in the society," he told Arab News.
"Ideal man in the Ideal Society" is the slogan of the organization, Ali said. Since its inception, MSS has been striving to uplift and rehabilitate the destitute and downtrodden in the society by carrying out different projects.
"Our society also works for communal harmony and religious amity," the president said. "MSS is duty bound to strive for universal love, harmony and tolerance and it seeks to build an ideal society with God-fearing citizens," he added.
It has special wings for relief, scholarship, endowment, relief fund for cancer patients, education, employment, ambulance service, free homes and cultural activities. Its overseas offices are located in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.
