MANAMA: The first-ever independent school for children with mild to moderate learning difficulties has been established in Bahrain.
“The Children’s Academy” situated in Al-Janabia, caters for kids aged 3 to 9 and includes a teacher as well as assistants for each classroom to encourage one-on-one teacher-student relationship.
“This is a world where your child will also have his/her own individual educational plan and targets are reviewed directly with the parents in order for them to understand every stage of the child's progress,” the school said in a statement.
The academy offers speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The school has therapists who focus on behavioral sciences and music. The facility also has a “multisensory room” that provides stimulating activities and experiences that have been shown to greatly enhance sensory development.
The Children’s Academy also runs an afternoon outreach program catering for children aged nine to 16 years. The program focuses on building life and social skills.
