JEDDAH: Host club Al-Ahli qualified first from Group C for the quarterfinals, beating Al-Kark of Iraq 28-17 yesterday in the Asian Handball Club Championship at the General Presidency of Youth Welfare sport hall here.
The match was relatively easy for Ahli which scored its third straight win to top Group C with full six points in the competition.
Al-Ahli of Qatar had a tough time before scoring a 29-28 triumph over Al-Nawaeir of Syria in a Group B match.
The Qatari team qualified for the next round with full six points. Parsi of Iran did not find any difficulty defeating Al-Salt of Jordan 28-23 in a Group D tussle.
The action continues today with three matches taking place. In the first match, Parsi plays Al-Noor of Saudi Arabia. Al-Noor needs the full two points to qualify for the next round. Al-Nawaeir is up against Foolaz Moobarkaa in a Group B match, while Al-Sadd of Lebanon plays Al-Najma of Bahrain in Group C.
