DAMMAM: Jeddah police foiled an attempt by a Bangladeshi expatriate accused of killing a compatriot in the Eastern Province to escape to his home country. Authorities suspect that the unidentified man committed the crime in Jubail and then came to Jeddah posing himself as an overstaying pilgrim.
According to Jeddah police spokesman Lt. Nawaf Nasser Al-Booq, investigations proved that the man was not only escaping from his sponsor but that he murdered a fellow Bangladeshi on a farm in Jubail where the two men were working together. He said the murder suspect tied the victim and strangled him to death with the help of another Bangladeshi in order to rob him of SR2,000.
The spokesman said the murderer and his accomplice dumped the body at a secluded area of the farm before escaping to the city of Jeddah. He said coordination with the Eastern Province police enabled them to identify the killer. The man reportedly confessed to the crime.
