MANAMA: Bahraini authorities have imposed a temporary travel ban on a Saudi man who was involved in a fatal car crash resulting in the death of a Saudi woman.
A criminal court ordered the 22-year-old man, who is charged with manslaughter, be kept in custody. Arab News reported last month that the 28-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash near the Umm Al-Hassan area.
Sources at the General Directorate of Traffic said the woman had both Bahraini and Saudi citizenship.
Meanwhile, a criminal court sentenced four Saudi men to six months in prison and fines of between SR10,000 and SR50,000 for possessing hashish.
The men, who were caught separately, were arrested by border police at the King Fahd Causeway. One of the men hid the hashish in his clothes, the second in foil, the third in audiocassettes and the fourth under his car seat.
Bahraini authorities seized drugs on the causeway on a number of occasion and have since tightened security.
Last week authorities seized SR200,000 worth of drugs from a Gulf national at the causeway in the largest drug bust on the island this year.
