RIYADH: An international conference on disability and rehabilitation will be held in Riyadh from March 22 to 26 under the aegis of Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, who is also the supreme chairman of the Sultan Charitable Foundation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Sultan ordered 230 free tickets for local and international delegates participating in the Third International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation. The crown prince also designated the Saudi Arabian Airlines as the official carrier of the conference.
The conference will focus on worldwide scientific research conducted in areas related to disability and rehabilitation that help improve the lives of the disabled.
Expressing his gratitude to the crown prince for his support for the event, Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities Prince Sultan bin Salman, who is the chairman of the conference, said, “The welfare of the disabled received prioritized attention of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan. They have offered their personal support for the disabled in addition to issuing various orders to solve their problems, protect their rights and enable their rehabilitation and social integration.”
Prince Sultan bin Salman, who is chairman of both the Disabled Children’s Association and the Prince Salman Center for Disability, expressed his pleasure at the cooperation of various ministries, government and private establishments and charity organizations in making the conference a success.
Giving more details on the conference, Abdul Rahman Al-Suwailim, chairman of the organizing committee of the conference, said the topics of discussion at the conference would include disabled people’s health, education, social and psychological issues, training, rehabilitation and employment.
The conference is being organized jointly by the Sultan Charity Foundation, the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research and the Disabled Children’s Society. The ministries of Social Affairs, Health, Education and Higher Education, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also participate in the conference.
