JEDDAH: The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as the Muslim World League (MWL) yesterday condemned an Israeli TV program denigrating the Prophet Jesus and his mother Mary (peace be upon them).

“The OIC rejects all types of activities that denigrate or insult prophets and religious symbols,” Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said in a statement yesterday.

The program aired earlier this week by a private network made fun of Christian beliefs.

The MWL Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Turki said his organization was following up the case with deep concern. “Freedom of expression does not justify denigration of prophets,” he said.

Al-Turki said this kind of actions would promote hatred and create chaos. He urged the United Nations to pass a resolution to incriminate such acts.
