RIYADH: Flore Bouzanne accomplished something to really brag about nearly four years after taking up the game of golf. She put together a career-best round of 90 and went on to claim the overall Best Net title on Tuesday in the Dirab Ladies Group February Monthly Medal tournament at Dirab Golf Club.

With a handicap of 26 Bouzanne, a Filipino-French married to a Frenchman of Saudi Oger Co. Ltd. in Riyadh, returned a sparkling net score of 8-under 64 to post her most memorable victory thus far.

“Except for my putting I really played very well,” said the petite Bouzanne of her performance worthy of an Eric Liquigan, the single-digit handicap golfer-brother who is widely considered as the best Filipino golfer in the Kingdom.

In shooting tidy nines of 43-47 Bouzanne got a lot of encouragement from Dirab Ladies captain Theresa Wade, who played in the same group with Bouzanne.

Actually, Aelis Sarieddine matched Bouzanne’s score but lost on countback and settled for the top prize in the Omega Group for 36 and above handicap category with Evelyn Jensen runner-up on 75.

A newcomer to the group, Korean Jin Lee, with a 15 handicap, demonstrated she has got game to be a force to reckon with by taking overall Best Gross honors on 88. Denise Holding won the Alpha Group (0-28 handicap) after shooting a net 71 with Cristina Alabart runner-up on 73. The Beta Group (29-35) champion was Eveline Marko on 72 with Inge Gueltling runner-up on 73.

Holding and Lee were the award winners for longest drive and closest to pin.

The raffle draws for Radisson SAS Hotel Riyadh dinner certificate for two and Royal Air Maroc return air ticket went to Alabart and Wade, who was thrilled to get the opportunity of discovering Morocco with her husband in the near future.

It was another fun day out on the course for the group and Wade thanked Mohammad Benamar from Radisson SAS for sponsoring the February monthly medal and Royal Air Maroc’s Abdelkader Boujdoun for donating a return air ticket.

Wade also thanked Khaled Abunayyan, owner of Dirab golf course, club manager Bouchaib El Jadiani and his staff for organizing the event and sponsoring of cups and prizes.
