AMMAN: Jordan and Russia yesterday initialed an agreement for cooperation in the sphere of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, President of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) Khaled Toukan said in a statement. The accord is a basic step for boosting Jordan’s nuclear program as Russia is considered a key player on the international level in the field of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” Toukan said in a statement to reporters after the signing ceremony.

He pointed out that the agreement, which would be officially signed in Moscow at the end of March, provided for helping Jordan to exploit nuclear energy in the fields of power generation and water desalination.
