RIYADH: Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) and Trade Center Company, has appointed Nada Saleh Al-Ateegi as general manager of Kingdom Center. Nada has become the first Saudi lady to hold a top position in the trade and administrative field, the prince said, adding that her promotion for the new position is in line with the Saudi Council of Ministers’ initiative to appoint Saudi women in leading positions and key roles.
Prince Alwaleed stated that the Saudi woman has moved strongly toward being incorporated in various fields of work. On her part, Nada has proved that she is an integral part of the society and the current Saudi reform led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. The prince added that the Council of Ministers’ initiative was positive as it gave ladies the opportunity to excel in the workforce and hold leading positions. The private sectors are playing a vital role in providing career opportunities for ladies, who make up approximately half the Saudi population, to participate in the development of the economy and society.
Nada expressed her delight at being the first lady to be appointed in the position. “I am very proud to hold this position as I am sure this progressive step is a platform for further competitive opportunities for Saudi women in the work force,” she said.
Nada was one of the first ladies’ team that joined KHC over 13 years ago and held various positions including executive manager for humanitarian and development projects at KHC for five years, in 2000 she transferred to Kingdom Center and became part of the planning and development team that established Kingdom Center that was inaugurated by King Abdullah in 2003.
Moreover, Nada held various other positions including manager of Ladies Kingdom. In addition, she was a representative of Kingdom Center at many forums, events regionally and internationally in Dubai, Singapore, the UK and the United States. Nada is a loyal and hard working member of KHC and the extensive experience she has acquired in the past 13 years has allowed her to hold leading positions in the company,” said Prince Alwaleed who is well known for his support of the incorporation of Saudi women in the work force and encouraging them to follow their career aspirations.
