RIYADH: An Argentine cyclist who has embarked on a world tour that has taken him through 59 countries so far arrived in the Saudi capital recently on a mission of global peace. Pablo Hernan Garcia has covered about 71,000 km despite all hardships and obstacles that came on his way until he reached the Kingdom.

“On arriving here from Bahrain, I feel good and comfortable,” said Hernan Garcia, whose stay in the Kingdom has been sponsored by the Riyadh-based Marriott Hotel.

The cyclist spoke briefly and candidly about his journey and his visit to the Kingdom while thanking the people and the Saudi government for hosting him here. After visiting the GCC countries, Hernan Garcia will head east. “My aim is to let the people of the world know that we are the same and that our differences should not make us disown or hate each other,” said Hernan Garcia, who also holds a Spanish passport.

He has called on the government agencies, companies and businessmen to support his world tour project. An appeal has been posted on his website www.theworldbybike.com with personal notes and photographs about the countries, he has so far visited on his bike. His bicycle is emblazoned with flags of countries that he has so far visited including Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt, Tanzania, Uganda and Iran among many others.
