JAZAN: A 24-year-old Saudi man is being charged with illegal seclusion (khulwa) with a 19-year-old Saudi woman after members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice caught the couple in a vehicle involved in “unethical actions,” according to yesterday’s Al-Watan newspaper.
Jazan police spokesman Capt. Ahmed Al-Wadaani said the youth, whose name was not disclosed, was in police custody after he was involved in an accident while trying to flee and the woman was sent back to her family.
Al-Wadaani said the case would be passed on to prosecutors after police complete their investigations.
He also said the young man suffered light injuries from the accident and was treated at a local hospital.
According to the report, vice police accompanied by a police officer were patrolling the city’s corniche when they saw the couple in a car. The man attempted to speed away and in doing so crashed into another vehicle.
