JEDDAH: “Sawpnodanay (On the Wings of Dreams), by award-winning director Golam Rabbany Biplob, was the Bangladesh feature film screened at the ongoing 2nd Asian Film Festival, organized by the Asian Consuls General Club, on Monday night. Produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd. and starring Mahmuduzzaman Babu and Rokeya Prachy, the 88-minute film released in 2007 competed in the “Best foreign language film” category for the 80th Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood in February 2008. It earlier won the best director award in the “Asian new talent” category at the 10th Shanghai Film Festival held in China in June 2007. A documentary on “Natural Spots” shown earlier depicted numerous natural sites and panoramic views across Bangladesh. They included eye-catching mangroves like the Sundarbans (beautiful forests), lakes, beaches and natural coral islands.
