THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati kicked off her 52-day poll campaign on Saturday from Kerala promising quota for the poor among the forward classes and the Dalits converted to Christianity. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said her party would ensure the reservation for the scheduled castes and tribes and other backward communities while extending reservation benefits to the financially weak among the forward castes. Inaugurating the BSP’s campaign here on Saturday evening, she said her party would introduce at the national level the reservation and economic policies being pursued in Uttar Pradesh if voted to power. “Canards are being spread against our party. The campaign that the party is against the forward castes is baseless. It has an inclusive approach and stands for effacing all inequalities,” she said.
