DUBAI: Most Gulf Arab markets rose yesterday as a US plan to purge toxic assets from banks’ balance sheets reignited investor risk appetite, with Abu Dhabi shares posting their biggest one-day gain in nearly three months.

The emirate’s benchmark rallied 4.49 percent, and Dubai’s main index also posted its biggest one-day gain in one month, gaining 4.13 percent in the second-highest volume seen on the bourse so far this year.

Qatar’s benchmark increased by 5.88 percent,

Kuwait’s benchmark declined 0.19 percent to 6,759 points, snapping a four-day rally.

In Saudi Arabia, the Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) ended up 1.23 percent at 4,584 points.
