MAKKAH: Police in Makkah arrested a man yesterday for allegedly attacking the umdah (district chief) of Misfala area and his brother.
Maj. Abdul Muhsin Al-Mayman, spokesman for Makkah police, said the alleged attacker is under investigation.
Residents of the area said the alleged attacker was not on good terms with the district chief. Their relationship worsened after the chief testified against him in one case. The umdah and his family have been in a state of fear after the man threatened to kill them.
The latest incident took place while the umdah was coming out of his home to receive his brother who arrived from Madinah. The suspect beat the two men down using an iron pipe after verbally abusing them. The two lost consciousness and were taken to Al-Noor Specialist Hospital.
