RAMALLAH: Israeli Border Guard forces yesterday fatally shot a Palestinian motorist in East Jerusalem as he tried to run over three policemen who were overseeing the demolition of the home of a Palestinian who carried out a bulldozer attack in Jerusalem last year.
The driver was shot by security forces and critically wounded, but later died of his wounds. Three Border Guard officers sustained light wounds to their legs Police said the man ran over the three security men as they stood at a Sur Bahir checkpoint in the city, safeguarding operations to demolish the home of Hosam Dwayat.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered his forces on Monday night to impose a general closure in the West Bank cities, prior to the traditional Jewish holiday of Passover.
