NEW DELHI: Syed Jalaluddin Umari, president of Indian Jamaat-e-Islami, recently launched the website of Dawat, a biweekly newspaper in Urdu, (dawatonline.com) during a ceremony here recently.
He condemned the bias of mainstream media against Muslims and stressed the need for having a strong media for Muslims. He urged community members to interact with the mainstream media in an effective manner.
Earlier, Manzoor Ahmad, the head of UNI, released the special issue of Dawat entitled "Sixty Years of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind: In the Eyes of its Elders." He said Muslims in India have continuously been marginalized throughout the last three decades. He highlighted Jamaat's role in spreading the message of Islam.
Editor in Chief Parvaz Rahmani spoke about the history and development of Dawat, which began publication in 1953. Dawat has currently a readership of more than 125,000 and is read by people across the length and breadth of India.
