TAIF: A 24-year-old Saudi was stabbed to death by an 18-year-old compatriot in a brawl in the Shuhada district of south Taif on Friday. This is the second murder in Taif in a week.
Police said members of the public broke up the fight and took the injured man to King Faisal Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The attacker was unable to leave the scene as he too was severely injured. Eyewitnesses reported that he started crying when he learned his victim had died.
A police spokesman said the man had been sexually harassing the teenager and this was the reason for the fight.
The youth was detained for questioning, he said, adding that a number of witnesses have come forward to testify.
Another youth was killed last week when he, together with a second youth, tried to rape a juvenile at a bachelor’s apartment in Taif. All three were under the influence of alcohol.
Residents in the city recently complained of young Saudis staying out till late and indulging in criminal activities.
Meanwhile, police in Taif are questioning six men over the alleged rape of a teenager last month. The victim, who is 19, was lured by a friend to a secluded spot outside Taif where five other men were in wait.
The six men then raped the youth and filmed the attack on their mobile phones. The victim informed his father of the incident after the men threatened that unless he went out with them a second time they would publish the video clips on the Internet. The father informed the police.
