JEDDAH: An injury time penalty goal by Waleed Al-Jizani enabled Al-Hazem hold fancied Al-Ahli 1-1 in the first leg of the Custodian Of The Two Holy Mosques Cup Of Champions.

Ahli was first to score in the 47th minute through Saibe Yousuf after he received a pass from Muhammad Musaad inside the penalty area.

Ahli tried hard for the second goal that would make their task against Hazem in the second-leg easier. But all their efforts were in vain as they failed to break the rival defense.

As many thought that Ahli would go through with a one-goal advantage, the referee awarded Al-Hazem a controversial penalty during the fourth minute of extra time.

Waleed Al-Jizani, former Ahli striker, blasted the ball to the left hand side of the goalkeeper break even.

Both teams have an even chance of qualifying for the semifinal.

Ahli need only a draw when the meet again on April 23.
