MAKKAH: The Reconciliation Committee’s efforts to bring back a Saudi woman’s son who lived in Yemen with the family of his father, who had divorced his mother 17 years ago, resulted in the parents remarrying. According to a statement by Abdul Kareem Al-Tash, a member of the committee, the woman married the Yemeni electrician 18 years ago.
Disagreements between him and his in-laws led to the couple divorcing a year after the marriage with the woman expecting a child.
When the child turned two, the mother married a Saudi man. Her parents then sent the son to his father who took him to his hometown, Taaz, in Yemen. The boy grew up there with his father’s children from another marriage without knowing that his mother lived in Makkah.
The woman divorced her second husband because he abused her. She recently sought the help of the Reconciliation Committee to get her son back as she did not have any male relatives to take care of her.
The committee made several inquiries and discovered that the ex-husband was working at a Makkah-based company and that his family was in Yemen. The committee summoned him and discussed the matter. Not only did he agree to bring back the son but also responded to his ex-wife’s desire to remarry him.
The boy will return to the Kingdom to remain with his mother after school examinations in Yemen where he is studying.
