JEDDAH: The third European Film Festival in Jeddah that ended yesterday showed award-winning movies from Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland and Russia. The event, which started on April 8, witnessed the participation of large number of diplomats and European residents along with some Saudis. This year’s festival showed featured “Mediterraneo” (Italy), “Keinohrhasen” (Germany), “Être et Avoir” (France), “Admiral” (Russia) and the “Azzurro” (Switzerland). The screening of “Mediterraneo”, a comedy movie that won an Oscar in 1992, was attended by about 300 people at the Italian Cultural Center. Italian Consul General Adriano Santacesaria said that the film festival initiative was brought first by Italy three years ago in cooperation with Germany, France, Russia, Switzerland and Greece.
