Two music themed video games are making news. Disney Interactive Studios has released the next installment in the popular Hannah Montana video game franchise, “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” to coincide with the opening in movie theaters of Walt Disney Pictures’ “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
Hannah Montana: The Movie, available for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION3 lets fans play as Miley Stewart or her superstar alter ego Hannah Montana when she returns to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee, to explore and rediscover her roots.
Players can perform as Miley or Hannah to 11 hit songs, including five new songs from the film, in six different concert venues. In performance mode, players launch signature dance moves and jam with band members on the drums, guitar and keyboard. In story mode, they explore Miley’s hometown of Crowley Corners to help family and friends complete responsibilities around town. Players can select outfits seen in the movie for Hannah and Miley or create and customize unique outfits for Hannah. And it’s not just the characters that can be customized. Hannah’s tour bus, including the bedroom, closet and make-up area, can be customized to suit players’ imaginations.
For the Nintendo DS, Hannah Montana: The Movie follows a similar storyline as the console game and lets fans perform nine songs, including four new songs from the film. Players can trigger various dance moves, jam with band members and engage in several unique mini-games in Crowley Corners. Hannah Montana is probably a big yuck for boys. So they’ll have to wait a few months for a new rhythm-based music game that brings together the Rock Band and LEGO gaming franchises. LEGO Rock Band is being developed as a family-friendly music experience by TT Games in partnership with Harmonix. It will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
The game will allow players to experience a wild journey to rock stardom where they can build a band and rock the universe. Players will play through local venues, stadiums and fantasy locations on Earth and beyond, that mimic the imaginative settings that the LEGO world offers. Also, continuing the LEGO “build-and-play” gaming experience, players will be able to create their own LEGO Rock Band style as they customize their minifigure avatars, band and entourage — including roadies, managers and crew. LEGO Rock Band will support Rock Band instruments, as well as other music game controllers.
