DUBAI: Police have apprehended a 16-year-old schoolboy who hacked into his school's computer system and stole exam papers.
The boy, who is on bail, was caught after school officials realized that the exam papers had been leaked.
Capt. Rashid Lootah, from the Cyber Crime Unit of Dubai Police, said the private school student distributed the mid-term exams papers to other students who in turn passed it around. As a result, teachers noticed students did excellently in exams and suspected the papers had been leaked.
When police were called, some students admitted they had seen the papers; the trail eventually led to the accused.
When confronted, the teenager denied the accusations and dared police to prove he was behind the hacking. Police cyber experts then checked his computers and found hacking software and virus making software.
Investigations have not proven that the boy sold the exam papers. His case has been transferred to the public prosecution and is expected to be charged with stealing data.
