AMMAN: Saudi Arabia and Jordan yesterday agreed to shore up cooperation in the health sector through exchanging expertise in various specialties with a special emphasis on training. Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and his Jordanian counterpart Nayef Al-Fayez reached the deal.
The two ministers agreed, among other things, to exchange expertise in the sphere of accreditation of hospitals and medical centers to ensure the quality of services extended to patients.
They also agreed to prepare a “unified file” for the use of medicines, which provides for automatic registration in the other country of any drug already registered in one country.
The two sides stressed the need for setting up an ad hoc panel for regulating the recruitment of Jordanian medical and nursing cadres to work in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Fayez expressed his ministry’s readiness to cooperate in providing areas outside major Saudi cities with required specialties through coordination between the country’s public and private medical sectors.
From his part, Al-Rabeeah set forth his country’s requirements for meeting the needs of Saudi areas outside the major cities.
He asked the Jordanian side to ensure the availability of certain specialties for recruitment in Saudi Arabia.
