AL-DAWADMI: An angry Saudi man armed with a knife confronted a judge in Al-Dawadmi, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. A guard noticed the man and managed to, along with two other men, drag him out of the office and disarm him before he could reach the judge. According to police, the judge was presiding over a case involving the man and that he was upset because the judge had postponed a hearing several times.
Fatal escape bid
MADINAH: Police arrested three Indonesians following the discovery of the body of a maid near a wedding hall in Madinah’s Al-Naseem district last week, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported. Police were led to the men after tracing calls that the woman made before her death. The maid, who is in her 30s, was trying to escape from her sponsor by climbing down through the window of a third floor apartment. The woman fell and suffered serious head injuries. The men then took her home where she died. Panicking, the men dumped her body near the wedding hall. The men are still being questioned.
Pervert teachers
DAMMAM: The Education Department in the Eastern Province has suspended three teachers and a school guard, and launched an investigation into the sexual abuse of a pupil, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. The case was transferred to the Education Ministry’s Legal Department. According to sources, two of the teachers confessed to sexually abusing the pupil. The same sources said that the school management tried to cover up the case and keep away from media scrutiny. Parents and other teachers called for the three to be punished severely.
Liquor den busted
TAIF: The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Taif busted a brothel and a liquor den run by African nationals. The seedy place was discovered while commission members investigated two African suspects, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported. When commission members stormed the apartment, they discovered alcohol and women. Some of them tried to escape but the apartment was surrounded and those detained were transferred into the custody of local police.
