AL-DAWADMI: A bank manager and a traffic officer began fighting at a bank in front of customers in Al-Dawadmi recently, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. Two officers entered the busy bank to call drivers who had parked their cars improperly outside. The bank manager, sick of overcrowding at the bank, lashed out at the officers accusing them of not doing their job. One of the officers then followed the manager further inside and demanded he apologize and not interfere in his work. The war of words grew worse and the two men began physically fighting. They were then taken to hospital for treatment and the manager was arrested.
Bootleggers held
RIYADH: The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice recently arrested three expatriate bootleggers in Riyadh’s Al-Bath’a district, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported. The men sold bottles of alcohol from the premises of food stores and cafeterias to avoid drawing attention to their activities. Their operation was uncovered after commission members noticed that most customers who frequented their establishments looked sick and addicted to drugs. Members of the commission discovered over 700 bottles of alcohol at the three premises. The men admitted to selling alcohol for SR25 per bottle and had been doing so for quite some time.
Missing girl found
BAHA: Police officers formed search teams following the report of a missing 16-year-old girl in the Baha area on Sunday evening. She was reported missing at Al-Gayda Police Station in Baha, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. The girl was discovered safe and well after seven-hours. She was then reunited with her family.
Ugly school clash
HAFR AL-BATEN: A 16-year-old student was run over by a car driven by another student in a school fight here on Sunday, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported. The student used his car to run over the student, causing him nonlife threatening injuries. Police said five students were arrested in relation to the incident.
